Gibson Pewter Shop News - October 2009

Events & Announcements

No doubt about it, Fall is here. In a just a couple of weeks, those little hobgoblins will be roaming the back roads. Keep a look out for blazing pumpkins and other scary urchins.

Don't forget our Candy Dish or Serving Bowl, if you're expecting small house guests this Halloween! These bowls have many other uses as well. Out little creatures have already reminded us to put out plenty of treats.

Open the door to creativity, adventure and relaxation. Discover with your family and friends an insider's view of scenic Hillsborough's craftspeople and artisans. Participate in NH Open Doors, Veteran's Day Weekend, November 7 & 8, from 10am to 5 pm. Visit nhopendoors.com to view participants across the State of New Hampshire.

Pick up a copy of the November issue of New Hampshire Magazine. Gibson Pewter is the featured artist (page 31). We just found out about it last week. A nice exposure boost as we head into the holiday buying season.

The 2009 Christmas Ornament, The Franklin Pierce Homestead, is available for sale beginning November 1st! Priced at $15, these make a lovely keepsake for everyone you know who loves this area, and one more to add to your Hillsborough collection. This is our ninth year. Previous year ornaments are always available for sale.

Speaking of Christmas... Don't wait until the last minute to place your Christmas orders. Remember, I'm Santa's source for pewter, and this elf makes everything himself with his two hands.

The Days Are Getting Shorter...

And that means more dark than light for a while.

Warm and light up the holiday season with any of our candlesticks. The 3" pillar Candleholder has sturdy, wide base and a nicely flared lip to catch any stray wax. It is an affordable way to add accent light and warmth to your home...

Pewter Storage Tip

If you need to put your pewter in storage for a long period of time, take the time to pack it carefully.

I recommend wrapping your pewter piece(s) in a paper towel and then placing it in a zip lock bag. This protective measure will keep the surface of your pewter clean and also help prevent oxidization.

If you have multiple pieces to place in storage, use plenty of padding between pieces as pewter is a soft alloy and easily bent. These simple measures will protect your pewter ware for future use.
